New possibilities with artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) now enables solutions that seemed unrealistic just ten years ago. We use advanced AI technology for continuous net monitoring, allowing the system to detect wear and holes early – while cleaning or inspection is underway.

New possibilities with artificial intelligence

Together with Dypheimr and Even Bringsdal, We're developing next-generation AI solutions that are used on our own and our competitors' units.

– AI allows us to extract valuable insights and identify holes in real-time with very high precision, says Thomas Aas, CEO at Ocein.

Intelligent platform delivers new precision

Dypheimr develops an AI platform that elevates inspection technology to an entirely new level. The platform continuously analyses video streams from the unit in operation and recognizes patterns indicating wear, emerging damage, and holes, faster and more precisely than previously possible.

The solution is trained on large amounts of data from previous StealthCleaner washes. This enables the system to understand variations in net types, lighting conditions, and water movement. The platform is self-learning and improves the model with each run. The result is a solution that becomes increasingly accurate, stable, and reliable in demanding environments.

Experience meets innovation

Even Bringsdal has a background as a engineer and more than 20 years of experience with underwater technology. Dypheimr builds on this expertise and combines it with modern AI methods.

– We're very pleased to have Ocein as a customer. This is a perfect case for our AI platform, says Even. He adds that Ocein is ambitious, forward-thinking, and dares to go first, to the benefit of their product users.

Close collaboration produces better solutions

Dypheimr is based in Molde and regularly visits us at Ocein to conduct tests and further development together with Erlend and others in Ocein. This close, hands-on collaboration approach allows us to quickly validate solutions, understand challenges, and optimize the technology in line with real operating conditions.

– We don't develop technology just for technology's sake. The goal is to give customers the best and most robust solutions, says Even.

Freedom to explore new solutions

– Ocein gives us great freedom to find the optimal solutions for each project. When challenges become complex, it's precisely this freedom that allows us to create something truly good, says Even.

What AI inspection means in practice

For aquaculture operators, AI-driven inspection provides:

  • Real-time data on net condition during cleaning
  • Early warning of wear and holes
  • Inspections are documented with no follow-up work required from the ROV pilot
  • Reduced risk of escapes and unexpected operational interruptions
