Building on the Norwegian expertise along the coast, which has been developed over many years, and turning this into great products and services that Norwegian companies can take abroad. These are companies we want to see grow even more, says Amund Bjerkholt from Innovation Norway.

This scheme is all about supporting sustainable industry and business. The autonomous net cleaners that Ocein is developing can help cut CO₂ emissions and improve fish health, says Amund.

An important industry for the future

Amund works as an advisor at Innovation Norway. He has experience from the oil and gas, aluminum, and aquaculture industries. His job is to help boost great projects in Nordmøre.

At the same time, Norway needs other export industries. We have to adapt, and Innovation Norway wants to contribute to that transition process, says Amund.

Plenty of valuable expertise in aquaculture

Today, aquaculture is Norway's second largest export industry. There are so many opportunities for growth in coastal companies that handle offshore operations.

Ocein is one of those companies, with clear ambitions and clear goals. Norway is a key market in the aquaculture sector, and the opportunities abroad are huge, says Amund.

Ocein develops autonomous net cleaners

By using Ocein's autonomous net cleaners, which live permanently in the pen and clean continuously, you get better water flow and more oxygen in the pen. It also means less boat traffic, reducing stress for your fish and cutting CO₂ emissions.

Recognition through national schemes

Innovation Norway has also granted Ocein a growth loan, a collaboration between Innovation Norway and the European Investment Fund (EIF).

The support and loan Ocein received come from national schemes. Getting this approved is a real seal of approval for a company, says Amund.

There are so many exciting companies in the aquaculture sector here that really push each other to succeed, Amund concludes.
